The Havana at its grandest: four seats of warm tan channel-ribbed hide slung between polished aircraft-aluminium wings. Long, low and unmistakable — the room's showpiece.

Top-grain hide is cut and built by hand, so allow roughly ±2cm.

Materials & make

Hide sourced from Australia, Brazil and Argentina, hand-cut and set over a kiln-dried hardwood frame. The same leather covers every surface of the piece, front and back. Built to patina and to last.

The frame. Solid hardwood, mortise-and-tenon joints with corner blocks, kiln-dried to 8 to 12 per cent moisture before a single cut.

Seat suspension. Serpentine sinuous springs across the seat base, over a non-woven fabric support, under high-resilience seat foam at 35 to 40kg per cubic metre. It is the arrangement that keeps a seat stable and holds its shape over years rather than seasons.

3-year warranty on every piece, covering the frame and workmanship.

Who is Rumpus?

Rumpus is the leather-furniture house of A Man & His Cave, an Australian business established in 2020. Six years on, we design and commission top-grain leather lounges and chairs, built to order and backed by Australian support experts who know this range inside out.

Is my piece covered by warranty?

Yes. Every Rumpus piece carries a 3-year warranty covering the frame and workmanship.

Can I get a custom size?

Catalogue pieces are built on fixed tooling, so the dimensions listed are the dimensions of the piece. A custom size is a one-off design build with a design fee from $800, priced per piece. Call us on +61 2 7248 6718 for an exact number.

Are these made to order?

Yes. Each piece is commissioned in the hide you choose and built for your room, roughly 12 to 14 weeks from order.

Can I see the leather before I buy?

Book a call and a specialist will walk you through how each hide looks and wears, and can send photographs of the exact leather in natural light.

How do I care for top-grain leather?

Wipe with a dry cloth, condition it every few months and keep it out of direct sun. Top-grain hide is meant to patina and only gets better with age.

How the Havana is made

Built the long way

Top-grain hide on a hardwood frame. Seams stitched by hand, brass set one stud at a time, then oiled back to a sheen.

Nothing about it is quick. That is rather the point.

    Very good buy. It is the first sofa we have owned that looks better than the day it arrived. It is in the front room and it anchors the whole space. We bought it for the office and it takes daily traffic without showing it. The ribbing traps dust in the grooves so it wants a brush attachment weekly. Nothing to complain about.

    Enormous, and that was the point

    We have five kids and every single one of them plus two dogs fits on this. That was the brief and it delivers on it. It is a serious amount of money and I sat on the order page for a fortnight before I clicked. Twelve weeks later a truck turned up with the biggest sofa I have ever seen in a domestic house.     Wouldn't fit and no returns

    Entirely my fault for not measuring the stairwell but be warned, there is no return on these because they are made to order. Seven and a half grand of sofa currently living in my garage while I work out what to do. The sofa itself is beautiful. Read the fine print harder than I did.
